Spurs' summer silly season summary (so far)

The World Cup is winding down. Pre-season starts next week, so it's time to start paying more attention to the summer transfer market. First, we need to recap what's been going on while we've all been Cup zombies. I've scoured the web and distilled the most interesting rumors. Not surprisingly, they include a plethora of World Cup names that probably wouldn't be considered three out of four years.
I'll categorize the links: World Cup Anomalies, Robbie Keane, Man City Rejects, Get me the hell outta' here!, and Quite possibly viable. Many names will end up in more than one category, so keep up.

World Cup Anomalies
  • Stephen Pienaar (South Africa) from Everton,
  • Joe Cole (England) on a free transfer from Chelsea,
  • Luis Fabiano (Brazil) from Savilla,
  • Diego Forlan (Uruguay) from Atletico Madrid,
  • Luis Suarez (Uruguay) from Ajax,
  • Edinson Cavani (Uruguay) from Palermo,
  • Vincenzo Iaquinta (Italy) from Juventus,
  • Timon Kjaer (Denmark) from Palermo,
  • Pablo Barrera (Mexico) from Pumas,
  • Julio Baptista (Brazil) from A.S. Roma
(Where in the world is) Robbie Keane?
  • To Aston Villa in a trade for Agbonlahor,
  • To Birmingham,
  • To Ajax in a trade for Luis Suarez
Man Citeh Rejects
  •   Micah Richards,
  • Craig Bellamy,
  • Julio Baptista wants to go to sit on the bench at City; ignore previous link
Get me the hell outta' here!
  • Jamie O'Hara,
  • Robbie Keane to Villa, Birmingham, and Ajax,
  • Roman Pavlyuchenko to Stoke,
  • Jermaine Jenas to Stoke, or to Villa in a trade for Curtis Davies,
  • Adel Taarabt to Villarreal
Quite possibly viable
  • Marijan Antolovic (Croat goalkeeper from Legia Warsaw),
  • Stipe Pletikosa (Croat goalkeeper from Spartak Moskow),
  • Joe Cole for free,
  • Jenas to Villa for Davies,
  • Moussa Sissoko from Toulouse,
  • Radamel Falcao (striker from Columbia) from Porto,
  • Pavlyuchenko to Stoke,
  • Carlton Cole from West Ham,
  • Taarabt to Villarreal,
  • Richards and Bellamy from Man City
What I'd like to see:
  • I would love to land Joe Cole. Work your magic, Redknapp!
  • I love Forlan, but am wary since his flop at Man United. Not sure if he can thrive in England. What the hell, let's give him a shot!
  • Goodbye Keano and Super Pav! Thanks for all you've done.
  • Will gladly feed off Man City's scraps, as they keep overspending themselves into oblivion. Richards could be our right back solution (we've heard that before), and Bellamy is a perfect replacement for Keane.
  • Goodbye Jamie O'Hara and smurf off, you ungrateful, loud-mouthed, under-talented wank!
  • Taarabt has always received praise from coaches and scouts. He's done we'll when on loan in the lower leagues, but I don't think he's a good fit at Spurs. Buh-bye.
  • Sure, I'll take a Croatian goalie! We need the cover. Let's go for Pletikosa.
  • I'd be willing to offload Jenas for a good price, or a smart trade up, but I don't know if Curtis Davies fits the bill.
  • Please Harry, sign Arda Turan. Please?
  • Any top-class striker who'll lead us through the Champion's League and the top 3 in the league...but not any mentioned on this list...except maybe Forlan.
Did you get all that? Doesn't matter, as it'll all change by the time the Cup's over. I'll be keeping you updated.

He looks good in white, no?
